The main cause of type 2 diabetes is obesity.
Surgery, of course, causes rapid weight loss and massive. Weight loss improves diabetes.
They are more likely to be complications if you have diabetes, but it is a known fact that doctors are very aware and take precautions to protect pre-and postoperatively to minimize these risks.
[I am 50 pounds overweight and type 2 diabetes for 30 + years. I recently had a kidney transplant surgery (much worse than a surgery), without complications.]
Is controlled in a person with diabetes with obesity, bariatric surgery is a very viable option.
For a person with uncontrolled diabetes, an operation is is risky, and most doctors do not recommend material selection, until the diabetes is under control for at least 6 months.
Thank you, Gary B. I have type 2 diabetes over 20 years, because I am very overweight. When I saw the operation and the complications of diabetes have been discussed and reviewed. And thus the operation, which took place the need for sugar under control as the other elective surgery. In my case, I was under 3 to 5 tablets per day and insulin in the worst part of my diabetes. After the surgery I leave of tablets and insulin and a diet low in sugar. Today is my A1C 5.8 or diabetes (typical) reading.
All surgery carries risks, especially for a person with diabetes, but weight loss usually helps control diabetes.
